Tug of War

Have you ever played a game of tug-of-war? If your opponent is stronger than you, you will never win. Even tugging on a sock in the mouth of a frisky puppy can leave us falling to the floor or letting the sock slip through our fingers.

Weight loss can be like a tug-of-war game.

We must let go and let God.

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.
                                    Proverbs 19:21 ESV

The more we yank on the rope or the sock, striving for complete control to do it our way, the more frustration develops, and when frustration consumes us, our grip on the rope lessens. One emotion that drives me to eat more food or sweeter food is frustration.

One help I recommend to help you follow God's way each day is to read a short devotion. I recommend Divine Dining.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
                                                              2 Corinthians 3:17 NIV

Surrender to God's control brings recovery.
Recovery isn't easy, but it's worth it because it brings freedom.

I agree! Letting go and letting God take over is a daily walk in my life, sometimes I can and sometimes I just have to pick myself up and start again!

Well said, Brices Mice. Sometimes, we bow our head & tell the Lord, I just can't make it. Even self-control is a fruit of the Spirit. It doesn't come from us.
